A 1970 graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry Dr. Maher is also a graduate of the Aesthetic Continuum at Baylor College of Dentistry and the Advanced Program at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies He served for 17 years as a member (with three years as chairman) of the Contra Costa County Peer Review Committee. In 1997, he was named California Peer Review Chairman of the Year. Dr. Maher has been a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 1988.  Dr. Maher has taught at LVI, and was a founding faculty member of the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, where he taught dentists from all over North America the techniques of beautiful cosmetic dental treatment. Dr. Maher is currently in private practice of cosmetic dentistry in Palm Desert, California, and a proud member of the clinical faculty at UCLA School of Dentistry Esthetic Residency program—the only program of its kind in existence.
